Beyond the Kennel: Welcome to the Guardian Home Family

Guardian Homes and how they work.

For decades, the traditional image of a dog breeding operation involved a sprawling estate lined with kennels.

While some setups prioritize comfort, the inherent limitation remains: a single breeder can only provide a finite amount of individual attention, couch time, and personalized socialization. We refuse to raise our dogs that way.

That is why we created our Canine Guardian Home Program. This collaborative model completely eliminates the need for kennel structures, ensuring that every single one of our breeding dogs lives the life they truly deserve—as a pampered, central member of a forever family just like yours.

What Exactly is a Guardian Home?

When you join our guardian family, you are welcoming a "pick-of-the-litter" puppy or adolescent dog—a puppy we have carefully chosen to continue our program's genetic line—directly into your heart and home.

Instead of paying a traditional adoption fee, you receive a top-tier companion dog completely free upfront. In exchange, we retain legal ownership and breeding rights for a predetermined number of years or litters. After our contract is fulfilled, the dog is altered with a vasectomy, an ovarian sparing spay, or a traditional spay or neuter, and full ownership transfers permanently to you.

Your dog lives full-time with you as your beloved pet, experiencing a normal, enriched family life. They only return to us briefly for health testing, mating, or to give birth (whelping) and raise their puppies.

How Our Partnership Works

While the exact terms are laid out in our contract, our day-to-day operations are built on a highly structured, honest division of costs and responsibilities:

  • Your Responsibilities: You act as the dog's true parents. You cover normal pet expenses, including premium food, routine vaccinations, grooming, flea/tick preventions, and basic obedience training. We also trust you to ensure the dog is never allowed to breed outside our program.

  • Our Responsibilities: We handle 100% of reproductive expenses. This includes genetic health screenings (such as OFA hip or eye exams), progesterone testing, AI procedures, and prenatal care.

  • The Schedule: For a female dog, she will typically visit us for a few days to mate, return home to you for her pregnancy, and then head back to our home a week before giving birth. She stays with us until her puppies are completely weaned (at exactly 8 weeks old). Male dogs (studs) usually leave you for just a few days at a time to complete a mating session.

A True Win-Win-Win Scenario

We love this program because it protects and benefits everyone involved, most importantly the dogs we cherish.

  1. The Dog Wins: Your dog never has to live in a kennel or undergo the heartbreak of being re-homed after "retiring" from breeding. Your couch is the only home they’ve ever known.

  2. Your Family Wins: You gain access to an exceptional, health-tested companion dog that might otherwise be a major financial investment, welcoming a premier bloodline pet into your home without the upfront cost.

  3. We Win: We can scale and preserve our genetic lines responsibly without exceeding the physical or emotional limits of our own home. We get peace of mind knowing our dogs are sleeping in a bed every night.

Is Our Program Right for You?

Becoming a guardian is not a shortcut to a free puppy; it is an active, multi-year relationship and a true partnership with us. Because we need to see each other regularly, we require our families to live within a strict geographic radius (often within 30 to 60 miles of our facility) for easy transit. It requires open communication, flexible schedules to accommodate reproductive cycles, and a willingness to say goodbye to your pet for a few weeks a year.

If you have room in your heart and schedule to partner with us, it is a deeply rewarding way to support ethical, humane breeding practices while raising a spectacular four-legged family member!
